The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. The recovery premium has been designed to mitigate the effects of the unique disruption caused by coronavirus (Covid-19); schools have the flexibility to spend their funding in the best way for their cohort and their circumstances.
