What does the curriculum for History aim to achieve? 

  • To provide an inspirational knowledge-rich history education that is memorable and meaningful, enabling the very best outcomes in History. 
  • For pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s history, the locality and the history of the wider world.
  • For pupils to develop a strong sense of chronology.
  • To ignite pupil’s curiosity about the past. 
  • For pupils to understand key historical themes in order to deepen understanding and make connections between different time periods.
  • For pupils to understand how the past has shaped the future, and the impact it has had on us today. 
  • For pupils to effectively engage in historical enquiry, using evidence to draw conclusions.
