What does the curriculum for Art and Design aim to achieve?
- To embed Christian values throughout the teaching and learning of Art and Design.
- To provide an ambitious and inspirational knowledge and skills-rich art education that is memorable and meaningful, enabling the very best outcomes in Art and Design.
- To become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques.
- To know about and foster enjoyment, satisfaction and purpose in studying a range of artists, designers and craft makers.
- To understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms and produce work inspired by these people.
- To foster an enjoyment of the visual, tactile and other sensory dimensions of the natural and manmade environment.
- To enable pupils to become visually literate: to understand and use art as means of communication.
- To promote children’s enjoyment of art and to develop confidence and a sense of achievement through the acquisition of knowledge and skills and through the creative process.
- To stimulate each child’s creativity and imagination and provide opportunities to explore and record their ideas.
- Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language and vocabulary of art, craft and design.
