What does the curriculum for Science aim to achieve?
- To provide an inspirational knowledge-rich science education that is memorable and meaningful, enabling the very best outcomes in Science.
- For pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of their local environment and the world around them.
- For pupils to develop a strong sense of investigation types: research, grouping and classifying, observing changes over time, comparative and fair tests and pattern seeking.
- To ignite pupils’ curiosity about the world around them.
- For pupils to understand key scientific themes in order to deepen understanding and make connections between their own experiences and the work of scientists past and present.
- For pupils to understand how science has shaped the future, and the impact it has had on us today.
- For pupils to effectively engage in scientific enquiry, and develop a full range of scientific skills to ensure that children can raise scientific questions, predict, plan and conduct investigations, record results and evaluate their own work.
